'Globe' of our own
Public art with a purpose

In 2007, Chicago was the debut site for an event called Cool Globes. More than 100 "globes" were crafted by artists and sponsored by area organizations and businesses.

The result was a dynamic public art display, drawing attention to global warming and other environmental issues.

We were a proud sponsor of globe highlighting our use of solar power. It was on display at Navy Pier. A mini-version of that globe lives in the laundromat.

“The gas crisis of the winter of 2001 created an energy cost crunch that made me look for an alternative. Solar was by far the best way to go. Despite gas prices going up, my solar hot water system will enable me to maintain lower prices for my customers.” — Tom Benson, World’s Largest Laundromat owner.

Our 36-panel solar hot water system is one of the largest commercial arrays in the state. It heats the water for your wash. The emissions it saves is the equivalent to planting 56 acres of trees each year.

The system was designed and installed by Solar Service Inc.
