Read a book, win a bike
Berwyn, Ill. – The World’s Largest Laundromat thinks readers are winners, and its owner is again rewarding kids for continuing their education over the summer.
The world famous and solar-powered Laundromat is proud to bring back its Read to Ride program. Kids between 6 and 15 years of age are eligible for the event. Here’s how it works: For every book a kid reads, they can fill out a raffle ticket. Then, at noon Saturday, Aug. 22, owner Tom Benson will pull 20 names (from a very large hat) and those readers will go home with brand-new bikes.
The program is open RIGHT NOW, and tickets must be returned by Friday, Aug. 21.
“All readers are winners, and this August more than a dozen of them will be lucky, too,” said owner Tom Benson, who has run this reading program for several years now.
Hundreds of kids will enter thousands of raffle tickets, making it one of the Chicago area’s largest summer reading programs.
“I think we have a responsibility to our customers and community to provide opportunities like this for children,” Benson said. “It’s a great program and it gives up a lot of pride to reward summer reading.”
The Berwyn laundromat has been featured in news publications and newscasts on every continent except Antarctica since being reborn more than a decade ago after a fire destroyed the original facility.
There is also a children’s play and educational area, video games, an aviary, free coffee and donuts every morning, and free pizza every Wednesday evening.
